Our Mission & Purpose
The Franklin Township Food Bank's mission is to reach out to the community and provide food and assistance to people in need in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. We address the needs of Franklin Township residents who require an emergency supply of food, and to do so at no cost to them. We are acting as a conduit between those who have food and/or funds to spare and share, and those who need help to put more food on their table than they can currently afford to purchase themselves.
We carry out our purpose by (a) asking local individuals, houses of worship, schools, non-profit groups, businesses and professionals for donations of food staples and money for supplemental food purchases, (b) packaging donated and purchased food into types and quantities suitable for various family/household sizes and (c) distributing the packages to people in need who come to our facility. We perform our mission five days per week, 52 weeks per year, through the efforts of numerous devoted volunteers supervised by a few part-time paid employees.
Simply stated, we are a group of community-minded and caring people, giving limited emergency help to some of our neighbors who are temporarily in need of something as basic as food!
Organization Type
We are a private, non-denominational, New Jersey non-profit corporation.
We are registered with and acknowledged by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt organization under IRS Regulations, Section 501(c)3. We are incorporated in the State of New Jersey, registered with and acknowledged by the state Division of Consumer Affairs as a charitable organization that solicits funds from the public. We are in compliance and current with all federal and state reporting requirements applicable to non-profit organizations. Our record-keeping and financial data are audited annually by an independent CPA/auditor, and are reported annually to applicable federal and state agencies.

We are not an agency of the federal, state, county or municipal governments.
The Franklin Township Food Bank is associated with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, a certified member of America's Second Harvest, a nationwide network of 200 food banks. We are monitored annually by the Community Food Bank of New Jersey according to the strict standards set by America's Second Harvest.
