Donating Food
Food Needs
We can always use non-perishable food staples as listed below. We have a particular need for the items in red at this time! No glass containers please!
- Cereal (cold and hot)
- Dried pasta
- Peanut butter
- Jam/Jelly (any kind)
- Tomato/pasta sauce (all kinds)
- Fruit
- Canned vegetables
- Canned soups
- Canned beans
- Rice
- Tuna fish and other canned meat
- Canned fruit & canned fruit juices
- Powdered milk or Parmalat®
We can also use perishable or freezable food extras such as the following (delivered to the Food Bank):
- Fresh fruits and produce
- Seasonal meats (turkeys, hams, hot dogs, etc.)
Items Not Needed
The Food bank is an emergency food pantry and not an emergency food kitchen. We cannot accept any quantities of cooked foods. If you have a larger quantity please call the Food Bank to arrange a pick up of the donation. Our number is 732-246-0009.
Food Deliveries
Food may be delivered directly to our food bank by anyone on our routine delivery days and times of Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am through 3:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 10:00am through noon. Other times may also be accommodated via appointment.
Other Food Drop-Off Points
We have large food barrels at the following Franklin Township locations where food donations can be left for our volunteers or staff to pick-up:
- Franklin Township Public Library
- Community Senior Center (in the Municipal Complex on DeMott Lane)
- Stop and Shop, Rutgers Plaza Easton Avenue, Somerset, NJ
- Shop-Rite, Elizabeth Avenue, Somerset, NJ
Other Food Related Needs
Aside from donations of food and money, we can have a continuing need for new/used plastic and brown paper grocery bags in good condition to package food for distribution to clients. We also have a continuing need for used, one-dozen-sized egg cartons.
